Who was the person by the door with the posters...

Post by Mikefellh » Tue Dec 08, 2009 12:29 am

Does someone remember who was the person/dealer by the door who had the Commodore Posters...I'd like to get in touch with them regarding something they were selling, but I neglected to buy at WOC (Workbench 3.x).

I found an Amiga 2000 that was tossed in the trash, but I didn't bother to notice it had Kickstart 3.1 in it, and all I have is WB 1.x and 2.x.

If you're in Toronto (i.e. I can pick it up/pay in person) can you contact me either here, or at mikefellh (at) hotmail.com

Thanks in advance.

That was Golan Klinger. His Spider Sense will go off now that his name has been mentioned and I expect he will contact you shortly.

That's me. I had a boxed copy of Amiga OS 3.5 but it sold. I would send a message to Joe Palumbo of JPPBM or contact him through his website. I believe he still has copies for sale.

At least you've learned the first rule of shopping at expos: If you see something you want, buy it immediately.

How about not kicking someone when they're down?

Actually, what I've learned is when you find a B2000 in the garbage and bring it home, check to see what KS it has before shopping at a one time event where you can get WB for it! :?

I just assumed it would be KS 1.x or 2.x, both of which I have for my A1000.

If worse comes to worse I can always pull the 3.x and plug in of the other KS ROMs I have in my A1000.

Let me understand this. You have an Amiga 2000 with Kickstart 3.1 and you're looking for a Workbench installation, presumably 3.1, 3.5 or 3.9, to use with it? How much chip RAM is there in the 2000? How much fast RAM? Is it accelerated? Some of the later versions of Workbench have rather steep hardware requirements.

Thanks for offering your assistance. I haven't been able to fully check the machine out yet since I don't have a 3.1 WB (and it's been a few years since I was fully immersed in Amiga).

It's a B2000HD Rev4.1 with KS3.1, G-Force 030 (33Mhz PLCC) Rev 4 8meg (they took out the HD which is why I don't have a WB). I also have a DBK MegAChip 2000/500 with 2meg 8375 Agnus I plan to install.

Again thanks in advance.

Not bad for a garbage find! With the extra RAM, fast and chip, and the 030 accelerator that machine will have no problem running Workbench 3.{1.5.9}. Let me know if you need any help.
